FAQs

Are there private rooms or does everyone have a roommate?

River Valley offers both private and semi-private rooms. For more information, speak to our Admissions Consultant.

What do we need to bring when we admit our friend/family member?

We would like you to bring comfortable, labeled, clothes for 4-5 days and shoes – whatever they wear around the house should work. Personal grooming items such as a hairbrush, toothpaste or denture cleaner, deodorant, lotion and a razor if they use one. We always like to suggest a blanket or pillow that will remind them of home and a picture of their family is a nice addition, too.

For Long Term Care admissions, please bring the above items as well as a TV and small recliner for their personal use and their prescribed medications. You may want to include additional clothes and shoes, if you like.

I’m worried about being able to visit my sister. Can I see her? How often and when?

You can visit without restrictions.

I’ve been looking at places for my Dad but he smokes. Can he smoke there?

Yes, we have designated areas outside River Valley where our residents smoke cigarettes safely. In order to provide a safe facility for all residents, there is no smoking inside the building.

Do you have Wi-Fi or cable tv?

Yes, we provide Wi-Fi services and cable tv for our residents. If you bring electronics for their use, please label them and we’ll make sure they’re listed on the inventory sheet we create for every resident.

What about money and valuables; will my friends money and things be safe?

We have a safe in the Business Office Manager’s office where we can put their valuables for safekeeping and they will be available to you during business hours.

I have a lot of doctors, and a lot of appointments. Do I need to have my family take me to those?

River Valley will schedule your appointments in addition to providing transportation to and from all doctor’s appointments and lab and radiology appointments.
